Morocco’s Aerospace Ambitions Take Off

Safran’s deal launches a new LEAP engine hub in Morocco, combining MRO (maintenance, repair, and overhaul) and assembly functions. The complex will host a 25,000 m² MRO facility handling up to 150 engines per year, plus a 13,000 m² assembly line producing 350 LEAP-1A engines annually. Operations are slated to begin in 2027. The investment totals about €350 million across the project phases. It will create around 600 direct jobs by 2030 and 300 more for the assembly line by 2029. A single test bench will serve both new and overhauled engines for efficiency. A memorandum ensures renewable energy supply to Safran’s Moroccan sites from 2026 onward. The project deepens Morocco’s role in the global aerospace value chain, boosting local industry and skills. The launch ceremony was attended by King Mohammed VI, and Safran’s top executives.
