Tram fare rises

Starting July 1, 2025, the Rabat–Salé tramway authority officially increased the ticket price from 6 to 7 Moroccan dirhams per single ride. Monthly and annual subscription prices were also adjusted upward to reflect rising operational costs. This fare hike affects approximately 80,000 daily passengers who rely on the tram for commuting between Rabat, Salé, and surrounding suburbs. The authority cited higher energy prices and increased maintenance expenses as key reasons behind the adjustment. While the increase aims to ensure sustainable service quality and fund upcoming expansions, some regular users expressed concerns over the affordability impact on low-income commuters. The authority announced plans to enhance service frequency and introduce new tram cars in the coming months to improve comfort and reduce wait times.
